About MixMyPart

Built by a music director, for singers, musicians, and the directors, teachers, and leaders who work with them.

Why MixMyPart Exists

MixMyPart was created by Andrew St. Hilaire, a full-time, professional musician who has worked as a music director and piano accompanist for choirs and musical theatre productions professionally since 1998. Over the years, the same problem kept coming up. Singers and musicians had no real way to practice their parts outside of rehearsals. If they didn't play piano or read music, they were stuck. Some would bring recording devices to rehearsals and try to capture their part, and later smartphones made that a bit easier, but the result was always the same: a single static recording with no way to hear the other parts, adjust the balance, or work on a tricky section.

From Personal Tool to Shared Resource

In 2012, Andrew started building what would become MixMyPart. The idea was straightforward. Instead of giving singers a static recording, what if they could open a link in their browser and get a real mixer with all the parts already loaded? They could boost their own voice or instrument part, lower the others, solo their section, and loop any sections to practice. It was built for his own productions, and once it was up and running, it became clear this could help other directors, teachers, and ensemble leaders too. What started as a tool built for one music director has grown into something used by choirs, musical theatre productions, worship teams, bands, and ensembles of all kinds.
