Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about MixMyPart, the online rehearsal and part practice tool for singers and musicians.

What is MixMyPart?

MixMyPart is an online rehearsal and part practice tool for singers, musicians, and their directors. Creators upload individual voice or instrument parts as MP3 or M4A files and share a single password-protected link, or add their media to Media Pages and share that instead. Singers and musicians open the link in any web browser and get access to a full mixer where they can control the volume of each track independently, solo or mute individual parts, set loop regions for difficult passages, and see visual waveforms of each track. MixMyPart is free for all listeners with no account, no app download, and no cost. Creator plans for those who upload and manage content start at $30 CAD per month.

How do creators share rehearsal tracks with their singers and musicians?

Creators record each voice or instrument part separately and export them as MP3 or M4A files. They then upload the files to MixMyPart, name each track, set the track order, and create a listener password. MixMyPart generates a single shareable link that the creator sends to their group via email, text, or any messaging platform. When singers and musicians open the link and enter the password, they see a full mixer with every part available. They can boost their own part, lower the others, and practice at their own pace. Creators can also use the Media Pages feature to organize multiple mixer links on a single shareable page. This is ideal for sharing an entire show, concert program, or semester of repertoire.

Is MixMyPart free for singers and musicians?

Yes. MixMyPart is completely free for all listeners. When a creator shares a MixMyPart link, anyone with the password can access the full mixer at no cost. Listeners do not need to create an account, download an app, or pay anything. They simply open the link in their web browser on any device and start practicing. The free listener experience includes every mixer feature including per-track volume control, solo and mute, loop regions, and visual waveforms. Paid plans are only for creators who upload and manage content, not for the singers and musicians who use the mixer to learn their parts.

What types of ensembles can use MixMyPart?

MixMyPart works for any type of ensemble where musicians need to learn individual parts. It is most commonly used by choirs, musical theatre productions, and worship teams, but it is equally effective for a cappella groups, community bands, school orchestras, barbershop quartets, and any ensemble that rehearses with multiple voice or instrument parts. Creators upload whatever parts they need, such as soprano, alto, tenor, bass, piano accompaniment, guitar, drums, or any combination of instruments. MixMyPart is not limited to vocal music. Any director, teacher, or band leader who records parts separately and wants their musicians to practice with an interactive mixer can use MixMyPart.

Does MixMyPart work on mobile devices?

Yes. MixMyPart works on any device with a web browser, including iPhones, Android phones, iPads, tablets, Chromebooks, laptops, and desktop computers. The mixer interface is designed with full touch support, so singers and musicians can adjust volume sliders, tap solo and mute buttons, and set loop regions on their phone just as easily as on a desktop. There is nothing to download or install. Listeners simply open the shared link in their browser, enter the password, and start practicing. This makes it easy for choir members and cast members to practice between rehearsals wherever they are, whether on the bus, at lunch, or at home.

How much does MixMyPart cost?

Listening is always free. Paid plans are only for creators who upload and manage rehearsal tracks. The Free-5 trial includes 5 multitrack mixes for 10 days at no cost. The Standard-10 plan is $30 CAD per month and includes 10 multitrack mixes, all mixer features, shareable links, and 2 media pages. The Add-10 add-on is $20 CAD per month for 10 additional mix slots and can be stacked. All plans include every mixer feature and there is no feature gating or tiered access. Payment can be made online by credit card, or schools and organizations can request a PDF invoice.

How is MixMyPart different from sharing audio files on Google Drive or Dropbox?

When you share audio files through Google Drive or Dropbox, each singer gets a static file they can only play or pause. They cannot isolate their own part, adjust the volume of other parts, or loop a specific passage. With MixMyPart, singers and musicians get an interactive mixer that lets them control every track independently. They can boost their soprano part while lowering the alto, mute the piano to sing a cappella, or loop the last eight bars until they have it memorized. MixMyPart also eliminates the need to create and distribute multiple versions of each recording. One upload serves every section of your ensemble.

Can I loop a section in MixMyPart?

Yes. MixMyPart includes a loop region feature that lets listeners select any portion of a track and loop it continuously. This is especially useful for drilling difficult passages, practicing tricky entrances, or working on intonation in a specific section. Singers and musicians set the start and end points of the loop directly on the waveform display, and playback repeats that section until they turn off the loop. This saves time compared to manually rewinding and replaying the same passage over and over in a standard audio player.
